Lantern House, North Vancouver
The Story Behind the Space
Lantern House is shaped by light before anything else.
Set within the North Vancouver landscape, the home is organized around a central void —
a quiet core that draws daylight inward and allows it to move freely through the space.
Rather than opening everything at once, the architecture reveals itself gradually.
Moments of compression and release create a gentle rhythm between openness and privacy.
Materials are restrained and deliberate.
Concrete, oak, and limewashed surfaces soften the light, allowing texture to emerge without distraction.
There is no excess here.
Only what is necessary to support clarity, atmosphere, and calm.
This project is not about statement —
but about balance.
Between light and shadow.
Between structure and stillness.
Between the built space and the landscape that surrounds it.
